On march 16 I was passing by the Art Gallery where some people were protesting about the US ban on HIV-positive travellers. They also supported a bill now making its way through the US Senate to repeal the 20 years old ban that allows U.S. customs to refuse entry to those who carry the virus that causes AIDS. Today’s Globe and Mail has more on this:

“A harrowing encounter between an HIV-positive Canadian travelling to the United States and a U.S. border guard has helped thrust a long-standing but little-known law back into the political ring.

The U.S. Senate is expected to vote next month on a bill proposed by Massachusetts Senator John Kerry that would lift what he calls a Draconian travel ban that has caused thousands of Canadians and other foreigners to be refused entry to the United States because they have the virus that causes AIDS.” [The Globe And Mail]

In an attempt to be perceived as a sophisticated statesman, Mc Cain was in England where he held talks with British PM before addressing a republican supporters orgy, which was hosted by the Rothschilds .

Mc Cain, who recently criticized the Great Albion for having the brilliance of moving troops out of Iraq, declared himself a great admirer of both Gordon Brown and Tory leader David Cameron. He also said that the situation Iraq is improving which leads to the conclusion that he is trying to fool Americans just like his buddies at the White House.

“We appreciate enormously the long service and sacrifice of the British servicemen and women in the military, both in Iraq and Afghanistan,” he said.

For most ordinary Americans, those not encumbered with an expensive education or infected by prolonged exposure to cosmopolitan heterodoxy, patriotism is a consequence of birth.

Their chests swell with pride every time they hear the national anthem at sporting events. They fill up with understandable emotion whenever they see a report on television about the tragic heroics of some soldier or Marine who gave his life in Iraq or Afghanistan.
